This piece is about what sits underneath — the layers you don’t see straight away.
Soft colours move through the surface, partially hidden and overlapping, like something slowly revealing itself. Paint was built up and worked back, allowing texture to form naturally as each layer settled into the next.
It also reminds me of being out on the water, looking down and catching glimpses of what sits beneath the surface. That feeling of depth — of knowing there’s more below than what’s visible — mirrors life itself.
Acrylic and mixed media on canvas
43 × 28 cm
Framed in solid oak
