Melanie Norman is a contemporary abstract artist based in the Hunter Valley, NSW.

Inspired by memory, landscape and lived experience, Melanie creates layered works that explore the connection between people and place. Drawing on both the vast openness of the countryside and the familiarity of home, her paintings reflect the experiences, relationships and moments that shape who we become.

Working intuitively with acrylic and oil stick, Melanie builds each piece through a process of layering, uncovering and responding. Her work is less concerned with depicting a specific place and more interested in capturing the feeling of being there - the traces left behind, the imprint of the memories we carry, and the stories that continue to evolve over time.

A self-taught artist, Melanie’s work has been exhibited throughout Australia and is held in private collections across the same. She is passionate about creating art that brings warmth, connection and meaning into everyday spaces, while fostering community through exhibitions, collaborations and workshops.

Through her practice, Melanie invites viewers to find their own stories within the work - a memory of home or simply a connection to the landscape.

Thank you so much Melanie, I could not be happier with the pieces you have created for my home.
